World Earth Day
How many times have we thrown away a mobile phone simply because the battery was built into the device, or because a broken screen contained electronic circuits embedded directly into its surface?
In line with the European Union’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 through the Green Deal, the European Commission introduced a new Circular Economy Action Plan in March 2022.
Creating sustainable, climate-neutral, and resource-efficient products means improving their durability and repairability. This approach is often referred to as the “right to repair.”
For many years, we have been crafting furniture using only the highest-quality materials, including wood, finishes, hinges, and hardware. This results in products with a longer lifespan, which means:
- Less waste generated from product replacement
- Fewer packaging materials required
- Fewer delivery trucks on the road transporting new products
- Reduced environmental and logistical costs associated with the continuous consumption of disposable goods
A Pellegatta piece of furniture is also designed to be repairable over time. Every component can be replaced or restored when needed. With minor modifications, a double wardrobe can even be transformed into two wardrobes for a children’s room—without discarding any materials.
We are proud that the traditional values and craftsmanship we continue to embrace remain as relevant as ever. They allow us to contribute in a tangible way to a truly circular economy, one that respects resources and promotes a more sustainable future.
